Hi, I’m Derek!
I’m Derek Ashauer from Fort Collins, Colorado, and I’m the entire team behind WP Sunshine. Every plugin here is designed, built, and supported by me.
I’ve been building websites since 2000 and building them with WordPress since 2005. Along the way I kept running into small problems that needed a plugin that didn’t exist yet, so I started writing them myself. WP Sunshine is where those plugins live.

How I got here
My web career started in 2000 with AshWebStudio, a side gig that became my full time business in 2007. Somewhere around 2005 I built my first site with WordPress and never really looked back, using it to build hundreds of custom designed client websites over the years.
In 2013, a photography client needed an affordable way to sell photos online, so I built Sunshine Photo Cart. What started as a side project grew into a full e-commerce platform for photographers, and it continues to serve thousands of photographers around the world.
I started WP Sunshine in 2021 when I noticed a pattern. Clients kept asking for the same small things, and there wasn’t a good plugin for any of them. Confetti and Address Autocomplete both began as something built for one client site that turned out to be useful for a lot more.
More recently I built Conversion Bridge to solve a problem I kept having on my own sites: setting up analytics and conversion tracking properly takes far too much work, so most people paste in the basic tracking tag and stop there. Conversion Bridge makes it easy to go beyond page views and track the data that actually shows how a site is performing.
How I work
Buying a plugin from WP Sunshine means working with the person who wrote it. When you open a support ticket, I’m the one reading it and the one fixing whatever needs fixing. I keep each plugin focused on doing one job well, priced fairly, and I’ll always be honest about what it does and doesn’t do.
